The Whitewater Canal

- A restored section of the Whitewater canal, this is how canal transportation was conducted from the 1830's through the 1870's before they were displaced by rail transportation. Note the rail tracks on the canal bank. When the canals went under financially most of them were bought by railroads who promptly used the ideal barge towpaths on each side for rail beds. Waited until the men and the draught horses towing the barge were blocking the vehicles parked by the canal to hide them as much as possible in the image.
