- A 1930's vintage train transports passengers to Metamora, a picturesque very small town still similar to what it was in the mid-1800's (prior to the Civil War). The tracks follow the barge towpath of the Whitewater Canal. When rail displaced canals as the primary means of transportation, many of the financially failing canals were bought by railroads. Why? They promptly laid track down the continuous, very level, uninterrupted and unobstructed, 20 foot wide barge towpath on each side of the canal, which was an ideal track bed. The small vintage train station is fully restored.
