- The vanishing point formed by the railing and corrugated steel wall is behind the dam taking the eye into the flat dam face hard. The hard leading lines are more radical than the "rule of thirds" making the image even harder. These lines lead to the people which not scale the huge size of the dam. Their clothing is bright compared to the surrounding earth tones and their line of vision also gives a hidden leading line to the dam face. This is one of my favorite photographs because numerous aspects of it enhance the size and and power of the dam and the water pouring through the spillways. When I found this vantage point and looked through the viewfinder, I knew it was "right."
