- Still had some frames left on this roll of film from shooting an experiment with panoramics using the 35mm f/2.8 shift lens. It had been a while since I shot them and wanted to get the film developed, so I went to a local "Cruise-In" of old automobiles and shot a couple of hood ornaments. Set the lens on minimum focus, and opened up the aperture for minimum depth of field to blur the background until the metering showed 1/1000th in the viewfinder. Then I positioned myself until the ornament was in focus, framed it and shot it. This is the second best of three with the some clutter in the background and and a lighter chrome. Since I could not get the reflection of the ornament in the radiator shroud, the base of it is placed at the "Rule of Thirds" lower left intersection. The clutter could have been reduced a little further if I could have opened up to f/5.6 or f/4 and kept enough depth of field for the entire hood ornament to stay in focus.
