- Looking back from the Indianapolis Zoo and White River Gardens side of the bridge (now a pedestrian mall) gives a view of the old Beveridge Paper Company building and (otherwise hidden by trees) the White River Park Visitor Center. The visitor center used to be an old pumphouse and I believe was part of Indianapolis' water system. It is not a stellar photograph but found this view interesting as it captures the growing skyline south of the current highrise corridor, the interesting architecture of the old bridge, and the retaining wall built around the former pumphouse and old paper company building. Noting the small portals along the wall in front of the old paper company, my imagination is fired by wondering what might have gone into the river from the paper company that got pulled back out by the old pumphouse many decades ago before we worried much about such things.
